Examples not working. CLR20r3 error. Is their source available?

Apr 21, 2011 at 9:08 PM

First of all, I wanted to know if the sources were available for any of these (potentially useful) application examples, maybe then I can get them to... not crash.

I downloaded the sample applications (DiskClone.exe, DiskDump.exe, etc) and when i try using "any" of them they always crash.

The dreaded CLR20r3 error

Ran command prompt as administrator (I should mention I am on Server 2k8R2.x64 but even under win7 its the same error.

After this, I get a Windows dump error popup with the CLR20r3 error

Just FYI,   The same error happens in Win7.x64

It appears I am formatting the parameters incorrectly, but without anything to go by, i don't know the correct format.

Any help would be great. Thanks.

The utilities are intended to illustrate how to use the DiscUtils library, so are a bit rough-and-ready when it comes to error handling. The confusing thing is probably that the utilities (for the most part) are intended to work on disk images, rather than disks themselves. So, something like this should work:

c:\CMD\DiscUtils>ntfsdump c:\diskimages\mydisk.vhd

The DiskClone utility will take a copy of a drive, for example:

c:\CMD\DiscUtils>diskclone d:\copy-of-c-drive.vhd c: -of VHD-dynamic

Hi Ken,
Thanks for the response,  I'll give it a try.  I am curious if the source code for some of these tools is available.  It would greatly speed up my grasp of utilizing some of the techniques the libraries contain without having to spend a lot of time in a learning curve.  Thanks.

You should find all the source code for discutils, and the utilities in the source download: http://discutils.codeplex.com/releases/view/44240

Alternatively, you can download the latest changes from here: http://discutils.codeplex.com/SourceControl/list/changesets

The source for the utilities is in the 'utils' folder.

I managed to get the diskclone utility working.  After looking at the source, I see it uses VSS.  Oddly, it is trying to use VSSAPI.DLL, and when I run it i get a VSS error now instead of the parameter one.   ::shrugs::

at least i got the source though, I can play from here.  Thanks.
